John serves as the Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives for the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgia State University and has also held numerous leadership positions related to experiential learning at The University of Kansas. Additionally, he is the Lead Strategic Advisor for the Office of Graduate Education Outreach at ETS, which allows him to further apply his knowledge and experience in higher education to shape services for graduate education stakeholders worldwide.

He is a lifetime member of the Society of Chicanos and Native Americans (SACNAS) where he is an alumni of the Linton Poodry SACNAS Leadership Institute; the Advanced Leadership Institute; and has presented numerous times at the annual SACNAS conference. John is also a certified CliftonStrengths coach, and he helps individuals and groups find their natural talents and apply them in their daily lives.
